Probably I oughta get my headlights adjusted (because it couldn’t possibly be that I’m getting old). Whenever I drive at night now, I’d swear the light doesn’t travel as far as it used to. I keep hoping there’s no traffic coming in the other direction so I can switch on the high beams without guilt.
But it occurred to me this week how night driving is not so difficult in places that have those reflector posts along the side of the road. Their brightness when tapped by even my (clearly defective) low beams is more than enough to keep me on the windy and narrow.
I wish we could all have someone in our lives like that… someone who will just stand on the sidelines and give us a nudge when we’re too close to the berm. Not jumping in to take over, but rather gently offering back even a portion of the light we’ve shared out over the years.
My hope this week for you is that you can identify someone in your universe who shines in that way, and reach out to them and let them know how much you value having them around.
(Meanwhile, I’ll be out hugging signposts until my hubby gets back from his trip.)
If you’re like me today, feeling alone and uncertain, then my wish for you is that you’ll find that sense of direction and purpose when you look in the mirror. You have so much to offer to the world… and perhaps it’s a good idea to recognize your own inner King of the Jungle! Time to roar, baby!
